Now that we have been home for a week I wanted to write you an email to thank you and the other staff members of FDR for another great vacation. As you know this was my third trip to your resort in 8 months so you already know that I am a fan and referral source for FDR and this last trip didn’t disappoint.
First and foremost I would like to thank you again for working with me so effortlessly on arranging for a separate room for my parents. Additionally the absolutely amazing views from our rooms in block 1 were very much appreciated and enjoyed. You were a pleasure to interact with during the planning phase and a true professional.
Second, I would like to tell you how much we absolutely enjoyed Kadian as our nanny. I liked my two previous nannies but I LOVED Kadian. She went above and beyond in every respect. My sister is the one who pointed out to me that while the other nannies were watching the kids on the beach Kadian was PLAYING with our kids. This observation was made while Kadian was running up and down the beach with our sons playing tag with them. I was exhausted just watching her. She either truly loves her job or is an incredible actress. She was always professional yet still managed to become like a member of the family and we felt that she always had our best interests at heart. I will plan my future trips to FDR around her availability.
I will confess that we were originally booked to go to the Grand Palladium, as the price was cheaper (even with the Grandparents special) and I thought that my parents and sister would prefer a larger resort with more amenities. I had the opportunity to go to Grand Palladium in November for 4 nights on a “scouting” trip (due to an internet rate of $50 per person per day). After 1 day at the Palladium I realized that I had made a huge mistake and immediately upon my return cancelled our reservation and contacted you. My reason for returning to FDR was I realized that what was important to me in a resort was not a huge swim up bar and 13 restaurant choices, rather it was a resort that has “soul” and values me as a guest, and I hoped that my sister and parents would feel the same way.
Thankfully I was correct and both my sister and my parents have now fallen in love with FDR. In fact my parents are already trying to figure out how they can return next year and stay for 3-4 weeks. This coming from two people who swore they would never enjoy a Caribbean vacation is nothing short of amazing. Virtually every staff member we encountered was special, but I wanted to point out to you a few examples to remind all of you at FDR what little things they do are what keep the guests returning.
The boat driver (and I’m sorry I can’t remember his name) coming out to the water trampoline to pick us up in the boat when it got a little wavy while we were out there.
Bethia remembering that my Mom drinks white wine with ice.
Sabrina seeing that we were eating in the Jamaican restaurant and making sure that a bottle of Courvoisier was brought over there because that’s what my dad drinks.
The lifeguards and entertainment people calling my parents Grandma and Grandpa and making them feel special
Coretta seeing my Mom looking at a plant seed catalog at the bar and engaging her in a discussion about gardening
There are of course a hundred more examples I could give.
I don’t know when my finances will allow me to return to FDR but until that time know that there is a part of me that is still sitting on my balcony with a red stripe watching the waves.
Everyone was friendly and polite and went out of their way to make us happy.
I consider all staff members very helpful, kind and professional – always asking if I was ok and if there was anything they could do for me. They are the best!
