There are a number of the staff who made our stay special - our nanny Latoya, the lifeguards, Donovan and serving staff. We took a number of brochures for our friends who will come with us next time. Your Serving staff never lets an empty glass sit in front of us for a minute. Their attentiveness is impeccable! You can't get staff like this anywhere else. We've certainly enjoyed their friendliness and humor. The Front Desk staff was great as usual. It's your staff's familiar faces that keeps us coming back!

Last week was the third time we visited the FDR resort and each time we come, it just gets better!  We were there for a week and it was so hard to leave the beautiful resort and people of Jamaica.  There were 7 of us (me, my 3 children and my cousin and 2 of her children) and we range in age from 4-49.  Each one of us had the best time EVER!  We had 2 nannies who were both great, Carlene and Janet.  Janet was fantastic!  She has been there for many years and gave our children 110%.  They love her and can’t wait to see her again.  The staff is incredible, especially Junior, Curtis, Kervan, Dale, Roberta, Tony, Kevin, Blacks, the staff at the front desk and of course Donovan!  Everyone made us feel special and comfortable every minute of every day. The rooms were perfect, the entertainment was really fun, and food and drinks were delicious!   So, thank you for a wonderful week.  We can’t wait to return!

We felt right at home and our room (17A) was perfect. We are definitely looking for that room the next time we come and are hoping to also try the Pebbles experience during another of our yearly trips to Jamaica.
A FDR/Pebbles vacation was one of the best trip decisions we have ever made.
A million thanks for your warm hospitality and your excellent entertainment and dining staff. I can't exclude Donovan, who "encouraged" me to do a 3 mile jog/run up one of the steepest hills I've ever done :-)!

I stayed at FDR from Jan 4-7, 2009. I had a great time at this resort. The rooms are great, the staff is great, the food is great. I do not have anything bad to say about this place.
The first night I got there I was in a resort view room. I was given a sheet to fill out with all the food and drinks that I wanted to be placed in my room. About 10-15 mins later my fridge was stocked and all the things I requested was available.
The next day I asked to be moved to an oceanview room and they moved everything for me and restocked my fridge. I was there by myself so I was not in need of the FREE nanny that was available to people with children. However, if I was ever in need of anything it was provided.
I ate dinner at the Italian restaurant, which was great. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. They made sure that all my needs were met. Not to mention FREE Wi Fi.
This is one of the best places that I have stayed. I will definitely stay here again.

Hi there. After unpacking all weekend : ( we found the guest comment sheet that we never filled out). We had such great service at your hotel that it was important for us to fill out.
Transportation was 5 -simple and easy!
Nanny service - 5+++    Carona was just wonderful!!!!!! She was above it all with her professionalism, attentiveness and wonderful care of our two girls, Hilary and Sydney.
Guest Room.-  4. - The rooms were spacious and we loved having the balcony over the ocean.  
Food service. - 4  - The food was good and all the staff serving it were great. While I cannot remember all the names of the staff at all the restaurants - they all we so lovely and accommodating to all of us at every meal. Kudos to Andre at the grill - what a kind hard worker!!
Bar service  5.   Again all the staff were more than accommodating. 
Sports  4 -
Staff serves - all your staff deserve a 5. They all work so hard, are very friendly, especially to the kids. Your staff is wonderful!
Entertainment. 5. Once again hats off to Curtis, Kervan and all the entertainment staff. They always seem to be there working hard and they do a wonderful job!
We have stayed at your hotel once before and we will hopefully return again.

Our 3 children, Matthew, Nicholas and Sabrina want to thank you for the enjoyable days that they spent at your Hotel. They had a really good time and they really enjoyed the beach ... they said the beach was very nice and clean and the sand was so nice to play with and to make sand castles. They also enjoyed the man with the big glasses - he was like a little comedian to them and made them laugh and also they like the idea that there was so much food to enjoy at the Hotel ... and the guys at the grill work so hard to make everyone happy ... imagine they noticed that !!!

We got back a week ago from FDR and wish we were back there again!
We arrived at FDR and were immediately greeted enthusiastically by the front desk staff. One of them took our 14 mo old in her arms and didn’t want to give her up! We were then taken to our suite. With two small children, we had decided to get the two-bedroom, - two-bath, one floor suite. It was huge! • One of the best things about FDR is the size. With two small children, you don’t want it to be a long hike from your room to the beach or pool. It was never a hassle to run back to the room for a sippy cup or swim toy.
Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating, you felt like a good friend, not just a paying guest.

Spent two weeks at FDR with our 3 kids and my mother. This Resort is definitely for families with kids and not for couples. Kids were always occupied and our Nanny was really the best. I found all staff members well trained, courteous and friendly.
My wife and I did the spa which was well worth it. I will be back!

My husband booked this trip at the last minute for us and our 3 kids (11, 8 & 5). Our nanny stayed late to meet the kids since we got in after her usual time. The kids took to her and she was great with them. We snorkeled, kayaked, glass bottom boated and used the water slide and pool. The whole staff was great and the food was good. Our room was very spacious and clean. Our nanny kept the fridge stocked with everything the kids loved so there was always something to snack on. There are not that many activities at night for adults but there is always something for the kids to do and that let us just relax. We had great massages via the spa down by the water with the waves lapping. We will definitely go back we All loved it!

My family (2 adults, 10 and 5 year old girls) just returned from 11 days at FDR and we have many great things to say about them. Our original stay was to be 8 days/7 nights. The nanny program is priceless and I never saw a nanny with a grumpy look. My kids fell in love with their nanny, Amelia. They were so busy having fun we could hardly get them to spend time with us! There are several dive sites that are very close and are excellent. The staff at Scuba Jamaica, with an on-site location, are a terrific bunch (Thank you Kerry and Christian!) and very professional. Our 10 year old took the Bubblemaker PADI class and loved it.
In all the years we have traveled and all the places we have been and all the different classes of hotels we've stayed in, we have truly never had service or attention like we did at FDR.

This was our first visit to FDR. I say 'first' because I can definitely see us returning sometime in the future.The tennis pro was 'awesome' at giving one-on-one lessons--I wish I had started earlier in the week. He really helped me improve my swing. He's around to just play a game, too, if you don't need help. The teen room/billiard room is quite breezy and a wonderfully quiet/serene place to be.

" Just Returned From 2nd Visit "

We just returned from our second stay at FDR. I wish I was still there.
My wife, 7-year-old, and I flew in Saturday, June 14th, for a 6-night stay. We had a massage on Sunday. It was good. The kiddo got her hair braided and the Little Mermaid treatment. She loved it.
I dove every day. It seems that scuba is no longer part of the package. However, the dive shop at the Resort is good and I would pay for packages from them. Fruity was a really good Dive-master. Snorkeling was fun for me and the little one. Take some bread or crackers with you if you go and you will be swarmed by fish.
The drinks were good. Never waited over 30 seconds to get service.
The activity department was active. We had a good time playing the games.
The Booze Cruise was a hoot.
Our nanny was Crystal. The kiddo liked her a lot. Crystal kept Pepsi, pineapple juice, and a couple of Red Stripes in the fridge.
There were plenty of kids for ours to play with. I think they captured every hermit crab in Runaway Bay. It was a catch and release program though.
Loved the room (127). The rooms here are not overly luxurious, but are very large and comfortable. I would rather have the extra space than a marble sink for sure.
We will go back soon I'm sure. It is a relaxing vacation that both kids and adults love. There is a reason why the FDR gets so much repeat business!

"We Love FDR !"

I am writing this letter to let you know how my family and I feel about FDR. We absolutely love it!! We have had many other opportunities to take our children and go to other Islands or ski trips out west...but our kids would not hear of it. They only want to go to FDR. We have now been there 14 times. We still use our same nanny, Claudette and now we have added another nanny to our FDR family, Lorraine. They are not just our nannies, because at this point my kids are old enough to take care of themselves, but they are family and we could never be in Jamaica without them. We also have the best person taking care of the activities for the kids, his name is Dale. He is a riot and always makes us laugh. He is like my kids big brother. He takes them on bike rides, fishing, swimming, snorkeling and anything else my kids would want to do. Donovan, the fitness instructor there is amazing. You can tell he really loves people...I have never seen him without a smile on his face. He has many activities as well like walks in the morning and water aerobics. The nice thing for my husband and myself is that we can just chill from our everyday, hectic life and relax and read a book if we want to or do activities with our kids if that is what we choose to do. We love the outdoor restaurants, the food is good and you can hear the ocean hitting the rocks which just adds to the whole experience. Usually there is a Jamaican show that my kids still look forward to. All of your waiters and waitresses are so amazing. They are so sweet and always greeting you with a smile. They can't do enough for you just to make you happy?? I would strongly recommend your resort to anyone with kids. The parents can totally trust the nannies and they can relax and read books or go to the beach or do whatever they want. FDR is a fantastic resort, I couldn't imagine not spending time there. We are very fortunate to have found this resort, because not only did we find a great resort, we found a great family!!!!

"I Wish I Were Still There !"

We just returned from the most beautiful 10-day stay at FDR. We are so in love with this Resort, the Rance family and the people that work there. First and foremost, Frank Rance (Mr. FDR), his family and staff are nothing short of wonderful. Gracious, warm, charming, and caring. No hotel or Resort can match the type of personal attention you and your family will receive at FDR. I keep forgetting FDR is a business because the attention is so personal. I've commented before on FDR but honestly, they get better every year! This year we traveled with our friends and their 2 sons. When we arrived I admit I was anxious. After all, we'd been talking to them about FDR for years and so I was afraid we might have oversold it. Our friends were speechless. Within a day they were already talking about "when they come back next year". There are so many things I can point to that make FDR special but trust me, there's not enough time or room on this comment board! Put simply, FDR is as safe as being in your own backyard, your needs and your children's needs will be met with great effort and care, and you will have the time of your lives. We're only home less than a week and we're already planning our next trip to FDR. I have recommended FDR to many friends and am proud to say they are now repeat guests. " Great Experiences, Excellent For Families"

I was first introduced to FDR ten years ago on an excellent recommendation from close friends of my family. At the time, my older twin daughters were 4 years old and my younger daughter was 1 year old. My wife Judy and I loved the concept of an all inclusive vacation with our own personal nanny for the week. It was hard to imagine however, how we could trust our young children with a perfect stranger. That being said, we embarked on our journey and here we are 10 years later still visiting our FDR family every year. We began going once a year and for the past 5 years it has been twice a year, every May and November. My daughters, Allie, Rachel and Jamie fell in love with our nanny, Claudette, in May of 1998 and soon after, Claudette's close friend Lorraine (another FDR nanny) and these two women have become a part of our family. But that's not all.  We love seeing the owner, Frank, every time we visit. He always goes out of his way to make us feel right at home.  I've travelled all over the world and this is the first time I not only had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the resort, but also was able to develop a friendship. There are many others at the resort that we have also developed relationships with over the years. For example, my very good friend and personal trainer, Donovan, who I spend a lot of time with in and out of the gym. My kids fell in love with the kiddies center and activities specialist, Dale, who always brings a smile to all of our faces. And there are so many others that I could mention, but this letter would go on and on. It's hard to believe that with my twins now 14 and my little one 11, that they still can't wait to go back and see our FDR family. So in closing, I want to thank you for giving us so many great experiences over the years and we look forward to many more in years to come.

“Laid Back - FDR!”

Our family has just returned home from FDR. All in all we had a good time. This hotel gives you things that no other hotel gives...nanny, ability to meet other guests, employees know you and your family by name. It is almost as if you are at a family camp. The kids play all day and at night moms and dads sit around, eat dinner and get to know each other.
All in all, this was a very laid back vacation - the kids were sad to leave their friends and my husband and I were truly sad to leave ours. I can see why guest choose to return to FDR - especially, if you time it and return with the other guest that you have met. So, if you are desiring a laid back vacation - FDR is a great pick!

"FDR Is The Best For Families"

My husband and son are leaving for our 8th visit to FDR in 8 years. We have made FDR a family tradition, and for good reason. FDR is a family resort. I've read reviews from other guests, and when I happen upon a rare bad review it's usually someone who did not do their homework. The ones that seem disappointed are the ones that expected the Ritz. It's not the Ritz.. It's not some stuffy, formal hotel. It's not a cruise. If that's what you want then take a cruise. If you want to kick it, meet like-minded families from around the world, hang with some very cool people, and have fun as a family, or have fun at night without being stuck in your hotel room when the kids are ready for bed then hit FDR. FDR is a small, intimate resort but it's packed with fun for the whole family. The people who work there couldn't possibly be more gracious and accommodating. When you spend money on a vacation you want to feel like people care about you, your family and your vacation experience. The owner, Mr. Rance, and staff get that. You are special - not a guest number. The size of the resort should give parents relief. Not worrying that your children are a mile away somewhere lost among thousands of hotel guests is huge. The nannies are amazing - they stick to your kids like glue. They give them freedom to have fun, but safely supervise. They introduce your kids to other guest's children, and the parents end up forming friendships very quickly as a result. The children are catered to personally, and if there's any downside to that it's reminding the kids when you return home that life isn't really like that!
In 8 years my son has made it clear...Disney, no way! Every year he wants FDR. It's HIS place. He loves it, and so do we. We LOVE FDR! Shout out to Striker, Irving, Marsha, Harry and Claudette. The most awesome nanny. Try FDR and start a family tradition.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We took our 19month old here earlier this month and it is by far the best family holiday that we have had. The staff are generally very good, the nannies are totally amazing and everyone wants to make your stay the best possible.
FDR facilities are great although not 5 star but it really does not matter as your stay is made so special by the staff. The nannies are fantastic and our little boy wanted our nanny to come home with us he liked her so much ! We got the perfect nanny for our son.
This place is one of a kind - you must go there.

The food was wonderful and they had many activities for our 1 and 4 year old to do. I would go back again. If you want a wonderful nanny ask for Lisa!

"Loved It!! Looking Forward To Going Back!”

We went to the FDR for a destination wedding. We had two small children (8 months & 22 months) with us and I had reservations about using the nanny, since I am a stay-at-home mom and my kids are super-clingy. We were assigned Sophia, who was fantastic! As I suspected, my kids wouldn't stay with her - but she was more than happy to act as "personal assistant".
She played with the kids, helped with meals, cleaned the room, retrieved items I forgot in the room/pool. And when the girls slept, I put them in strollers and had her watch them nearby, while my husband and I hung out with our friends.
As for the resort itself, it's small & secluded. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly! Someone always came by to refill drinks! There are many play areas for the kids, a fitness center, game room, disco room, gift shop, salon & spa.
Since we were attending a wedding, we weren't able to partake in the activities offered by the resort. I would definitely recommend this place to people with younger kids!

We Just returned from FDR at Runaway Bay. The property is well maintained and clean. The people who work there from the Nannies to the entertainment directors, even the omelet man are very well trained totally focused on you and your kids enjoyment. The size of the property is small but safe. The wonderful part was how they had activities organized - they had some thing different for the toddlers, pre-teens, teens and even adults. The water sports was always open for snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides etc etc. They keep you smiling all day by saying "Hey Mon".
My kids have traveled to plenty of other high end kids resorts and they all said this was the most Fun because of the people. Take your kids, and a camera.

“Amazing Family Vacation Spot”

We stayed for a week at FDR in March and didn't want to leave. The resort is much smaller than others we have been to, but we loved the fact that we could see our Son with the nanny while we were doing other things. This was the first vacation we were able to do things as a couple and also have time with our Son. The food was good and the variety was nice. We enjoyed the fact that we didn't have to eat at a buffet every night. This was an extremely family oriented resort and the staff goes out of their way to make sure your children enjoy themselves at the resort. The snorkeling was great. We went out every day with our boat captain/lifeguard Junior and have an amazing time. The glass bottom boat was a lot of fun for our Son too. He is 2 1/2 and Junior let him drive the boat and feed the fish bread. He is still talking about it after being home for 3 weeks. The rooms are nice as long as you get a renovated room. The first room we were in was not great and there were so many things wrong with it, but the resort staff graciously moved us to a new room by the evening. The staff was truly gracious and friendly. They always had a smile on there face and were so laid back and relaxed that it rubbed off on us. I've never in my life fallen so in love with a resort and been sad to leave. I cannot say enough wonderful things about FDR. We plan on going back at least once a year!

For meals, I was pleased that there was always something for everyone:  My 10 and 12 year olds with adult tastes and my 5 year old who wants hot dogs.  I was very happy eating ackee and saltfish for breakfast - fantastic!  The full bar with top shelf liquor all inclusive was a nice surprise as well.  Thanks, Craig and the other bartenders, for making all those frozen drinks for my kids and fetching ice cream from the kitchen late at night.
The suite we had was so spacious and clean, so much more than we expected with a beautiful ocean view.  My only complaint was we had to commute to MoBay for business and I'll have to pick something closer next time.  Hope that new road is finished when we return.  If I come back with the kids again, you can bet we'll be at FDR. Our 10 and 12 year old sons were a little apprehensive about having a vacation nanny and they were among the older children there. Our nanny kept our room picked up all the time. Room is really the wrong word - It was more like a villa. We really chose FDR for the suite. Our reservation for a one bedroom suite was upgraded to a two bedroom suite with 2 1/2 baths. Transfers were easy and friendly - excursions were convenient. If you want white sand beach you have to walk a couple yards but it's an easy walk through a gate with security and no nudes to walk past contrary to some of the reviews I have seen. The best part of FDR is the staff - the lifeguards do double with snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, sailing lessons, great activities all day, tennis lessons and more. I took scuba lessons with my sons and had a great dive. The food was excellent - take advantage of the adult restaurants. Plenty of places to enjoy the sun throughout the resort - I didn't meet anyone all week that wasn't happy and most of the guests are repeats, so that tells you something. "Go to this Resort!!! you'll love it!!!"

I don't normally write to commend service and hospitality, but in this case it is well deserved. We have recently returned from our second visit to FDR and we really wish we were still there. Beyond having perfect Jamaican weather, the resort was all we could have asked for.  Nothing fancy, but great food, great people and a casual family vacation.

The staff is the most friendly I have encountered in my various travels and our Nanny, Terian, was great at interacting with our 7 and 3 year old.  The kids had the best time they can remember and neither wanted to come home.  They both said they wanted to live at FDR.  What more can you ask for?

My husband is thrilled with the diving available and saw a once in a lifetime pod of dolphins on one of his 4 dives for the week.

The food also seems to have improved from last year.  The Jamaican food, both the restaurant and the buffet, and the beach buffet were the best.  Even with the power walks, aquacise and tennis, I still managed to put on a few unwanted pounds!

We can hardly wait to come back next year.  Keep up the great work.

This is the ideal place for a family with kids vacation, but I did meet a few people from Chicago without kids who were enjoying themselves and I met a lot of families who had been there more than 3 times, one couple told me it was their 7th time back. The tennis lessons were great and I never tried the glass bottom boat but heard that was great also. I tried to get a fishing rod and I ended up with a stick with fishing line and a hook on it but I did go fishing on the beach with it and caught a few 1/4 inch fishes that I threw back - it was fun regardless. The bar staff were extremely friendly and they would make any drink you want. If I wasn't fishing or playing tennis I slept most of the day with my balcony door open to receive cool sea breeze. At night after dinner I was usually by the bar hanging with some lovely people I met.
I have been to better resorts when I was single but the joy that my wife and son displayed at this place was priceless. I told her we will try some other place next year and she said she is coming right back to FDR. After all why fix it if it aint broke, so I guess we will be one of those family telling people "this is our 7th time here" and they will look at us like "you haven't tried anywhere else?"
