About Us - Franklyn D. Resort and Spa (FDR) is Jamaica's first all-suite, all-inclusive, boutique resort designed to celebrate the family with a level of caring unequalled at any other resort in the world.

Property - FDR is an all-inclusive resort for families built in a low-rise Tuscan-style architectural style, surrounded by gardens bordered by a white sand beach and the Caribbean Sea to the North. There are 4 restaurants, 3 swimming pools, an infant/toddler waterplay feature, Heely track and separate activity centres for children and teens, providing a wide variety of supervised activities. Our 100-foot-long waterslide, affectionately called "Big Blue", creates a lot of excitement for kids and adults alike. WiFi is complimentary and is property wide.

Accommodation - There are 77 deluxe one, two and three bedroom suites with separate living and dining areas, kitchens, cable TV and LAN Access. All suites are air-conditioned and feature either a large balcony or a garden terrace. Our newest addition is a 1400 square foot Honeymoon Suite, complete with a luxurious bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and 800 square foot deck on the beach.

Vacation Nanny - Upon arrival, each family is assigned its own Vacation Nanny, who will stay with your family to care for your kids and your suite for the duration of your holiday. Your Nanny is with you daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. and is highly trained in housekeeping and child care. There is a nominal charge of US$6.00 per hour if you require her services after 4:40 p.m. She will care for your children all day, from giving them a bath to feeding them to taking them to their activities, so Mom and Dad can enjoy their holidays too.

Kids' Playground - Located adjacent to the tennis court and opposite Block 1. Children younger than 5 should be supervised by a Vacation Nanny or parent. We also offer a basketball half court and a Heely Track.

Yellow Bird Kids' Club - Open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, this club is just bursting with the latest educational computer games, toys of all kinds, plus arts and crafts activities in the Outdoor Craft Centre, Nintendo games and a TV room. The staff provide hours of supervised fun for children from 2 to 11 years including such things as snorkeling lessons, tie and dye lessons, shell collecting, a kiddies' theme dinner and disco, pajama and toga parties. Parents must advise Kiddies Centre Coordinators whether the child is permitted to join in outside activities or should remain inside.

Children over 4 years must be signed in and out if unaccompanied by an adult. Check Activities Board for daily kids activities.

Pre-Teens' Program - We've not forgotten the pre-teens from ages 10 to 12. They have their own club where they can hang out and play Xbox 360, Nintendo WII, Game Cube and enjoy all the fun activities planned for them.

Teens' Program - Supervised daily activities for teenagers include aerobics lessons, video games, rap sessions, bicycle tours, beach volleyball, arts and crafts lessons, tennis, fashion shows and treasure hunts. A special room has been set up for XBox,  WII and Game- Cube activities. Special excursions for teens may also be arranged at nominal costs.

Games Room - Arcade Games, Ping Pong, Pool Table, Air Hockey, Board games and other computer games are waiting for players in the special Games Room.

Computer Centre - Our Computer Centre features WiFi Internet Access, advanced productivity, word processing, and spreadsheet programs and business communications services.

Shopping - In addition to our three shops on the resort grounds, as part of your all-inclusive package, travel to Ocho Rios, a scenic 30-minute drive for duty and tax-free shopping for jewelry, cameras, perfumes, gifts, craft items and more. Complimentary shuttle service departs the hotel daily at 2:00 p.m. except Sundays & Jamaican Public Holidays.

Family Disco - Family fun every night. Located on Block 2, lower level, adjacent to the Victoria Meeting Room

Tennis - Hard court lit for day or night playing. Racquets and balls available at the Front Desk. Tennis Pro on duty.

Gym - Modern, fully equipped cardiovascular and fitness gyms are open every day. This equipment is for guests 16 years and older. Equipment includes: Stationery Bicycles, Treadmills, Step Machines, Weights and Fitness equipment. An attendant is on duty to assist you. We also offer aerobic and aquacize classes as part of your vacation package.

Watersports - The Watersports Centre is open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily. Activities available include snorkeling, a cruise in the glass bottom boat, kayaks  and sunfish sailboats, all with equipment and instructions.

Scuba Diving (optional activity) -Scuba Diving is offered as an optional activity at the Resort. S.C.U.B.A. Jamaica is P.A.D.I. Certified and offers the best in dive experiences ranging from Recreational to Professional experiences for beginners to professionals at both FDR Resorts. They offer the Bubblemaker's program for kids from 8 years and up, the Discover Scuba program for Teens and Adults, Padi Certification while on your vacation, night dives and much more. They are also Jamaica's ONLY IDC Dive Center with Nitrox & DPV.

Bar & Lounge - All bar drinks are included in the holiday package. Wine is served with lunch and dinner. Bar and Lounge with piano is open daily10:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight.

Dining - The cuisine at FDR is simply the best. Vacationers get a choice of four restaurants - all by the ocean. Our newest restaurant Overproof serves up authentic Jamaican cuisine nightly - to adults only. The Verandah is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The popular Sea Cotton Tree Grill serves spicy jerk pork and jerk chicken, hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and specialty sandwiches all day. The adults-only Pier restaurant offers great Italian cuisine.

Celebrations - Birthdays, anniversaries, family reunion, or any other special occasion, please advise your Vacation Nanny, a coordinator or The Front Office two days in advance.

Weddings - Weddings are also popular at our Resort ... especially for parents getting married the second time around. Wedding packages are available and a wedding coordinator is on hand to ensure that your special day is most memorable.

Meeting Rooms - FDR offers three meeting room facilities for any business meetings or functions.

Concierge Service - Ask for the Vacation Nanny Supervisor between 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Front Office - Exchange Bureau 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Safety Deposit boxes, Mail, Information, Taxis and Messages.

Bodyworks - Located on Block 7, lower level. Open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily for hair styling and braiding, manicures and pedicures. Available on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Sea Grape Spa - Located on the water, at the eastern boundary of the resort. Massages, along with baths and other spa treatments, are enjoyed here. Guests enjoy seaside treatment rooms where they are indulged with distinctive ancient Asian and European techniques, combined with natural Jamaican spices, fruits and minerals.

Art & Craft Shop - Open 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily. For local crafts, leather and straw goods.

Gift Shop/Boutique - Open 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily. "The Gift Shop" offers tropical fashions, tee shirts, coffee, hand-painted batik-wear/sarongs, swimwear, souvenirs and sundry items.

Voltage - Room outlets are wired for 110v, 50 cycle.

Weather in Runaway Bay - The weather can get very hot and sunny. We advise the use of sunscreen at all times when exposed to the sun, with regular reapplication, especially for children to prevent sunburn.
